Sizing Up a Squid!

One of the biggest creatures in the world os the gaint squid. It grows as big as 60 ft. long. It lives deep in the ocean up to 650 to 3,300 feet down. The first picture was just taken three years ago.

Its eyes are about the size of a humans head. Which is the largests eye in the animal kingdom. The fins at the top os its head keep the squid balanced as it swims. The mantle works liike a jet engine. The squid moves by drawing water into cavities in the mantle and shooting it out the funnel.

Its huge eyes help it see in the dark depths where it lives. Its eight arms are used to pull food to its mouth. It catches food with its feeding tentacles( think of the snaps on a jacket.)The prey gets locked between the sucker and knob. This is the gaint squid.
