Looking back in the past!

Looking Back In Time!

Year 2000!

In the year of 2000 I was in Kindergarten attending the Lord’s Tabernacle Christian Academy. I was five years old and it was my first year of school. I remember being so excited, that I was finally going to school with my friends. I had three best friends; they were Brittany, Jessica, Eboni, and Janell. We had so much before we even got to the classroom, that we forgot that we haven’t even meet the teacher yet.

When we met the teacher, all the fun we were having ended. We walked in the class and I saw an old lady, who looked as if she was alive in dinosaur days. Her name was Mrs. Turner. She was a serious teacher, before KK she made sure that we knew how to write all the alphabets in cursive, how to say the basic words in Spanish, how to recite the alphabet, and how to read. In that point in time I was not very happy about all the work, but now I’m thankful that she took her time and taught us all of the basics.

One thing I can say is that I will never forget my Kindergarten graduation. I’ll remember that moment always because my best friend had to get up on stage in front of all our friends and family and sing the Star Spangle Banner, and in the middle of her song she started crying. It was not funny at the time, but as we look at it now it is hilarious. I truly can’t say what was the current fad, my favorite movie, or even the most popular song because I was too busy having fun being a child.

Year 2001!

Looking back in the year 2001, I was in the first grade still at the Lord’s Tabernacle Christian Academy. My homeroom teacher was Mrs. Brent. I was six years old and was excited for yet another year of school. When I walked in the classroom my backpack was full of books, copy paper, Kleenex, and so much more materials for school that I could barely walk. At the time my best friends were still Jessica and Eboni, and we were inseperatable.

Since I was six I was finally able to join The Little Sisters Partners for Life. When I join this group we had so much fun. I was able to go to all the sleepovers that we had and all of the parties. Then one day we had a party after school hours. During the party we had music, food, and games. We also had a soul train line and during the time the current fad was the Harliem Shake. So everyone went down the line doing their own dance of their choice as long as it was a clean dance. So when it was my turn I went down the line doing the Harliem shake and everyone was so stun that I was able to do it that they were all laughing. Mrs. Cole was so shocked she said if Angel can do it I know for sure I can do it. When she came down the line dancing it was so funny that I laughed the whole way home.

I also remember going home after a tiring day at school and watching my favorite movies, Shrek, Harry Potter, and Monsters INC. I also remember my niece being born that year. When I heard that I was going to be an Aunt at six years old, I was overwhelmed. I was so excited that I went to school and told everyone the good news. All of my friends were jealous though. But did I care, no not really, I was too happy to be sad about my friends being mad at me for my brother having a child. So later that afternoon my little brother and I went to Jr’s house and I saw my niece for the very first time.

Year 2002!

2002! I had my two best friends, Eboni and Jessica, right along my side yet for another year of school. I was in the second grade, seven years old, and I was very bossy.

Going through my daily check, uniform, check, Shoes on the right foot, check, and is my hair styled right for the first day of school, check. Okay out the door for school. Coming in the school, with my daddy by my side, while he was holding my heavy backpack. While I was holding my lunch box full of food walking proudly to the table labeled second grade. Once everyone was aquatinted, we all went in the sanctuary for devotion. During devotion we prayed, we sang, and said the pledges. When I got to the classroom I saw a familiar face it was Mrs. Johnson. I knew her from my church, well really I knew everyone from my church.

Later on that year I got some good news. I received word that I had a new little cousin, and his name was Peter. When I first saw Peter his face was a pasty white, with red scratches. While he was there I watched some of my favorite movies of that year with him they were, Barber Shop, Drum line, I Spy, and Lilo & Stitch. The current fads of that year and the most popular song of that year I really can’t remember because I was not too hung up on thing like that.

Year 2003!

Sitting in Mrs. Brent class, third grade, and eight years old. Excited for yet another year of school, and I was finally able to see me friends. My best friend was still Jessica and Eboni.

This year my favorite movies change they were now Rugrats Go Wild and Finding Nemo. Those movies were the best. The current fads I really can’t remember, but I know I was more than likely following some of them. The current song I can’t remember, but I was probably singing it.

During this year two exciting things happened to me. The first thing was that we received a new student. His name was Orlando Keith Hubbard Jr., KJ for short. When he walked in the classroom it seemed like all the girls fell out over him, including me. Also that year my Aunt Constance had her first child, her name was Mishelle. When I first saw her she looked just like me and still does. This year for me fortunately was good.

Year 2004!

Fourth grade drama! The older yet get the more drama you have. It had been a whole year since KJ had been at our school, and Jessica liked him just as much as I did. Can you imagine two nine year olds arguing fussing and even fighting all because of one boy? It was not the fact that he was talking to both of us trying to be our friend it was the fact that we both liked him. So we were no longer friends.

So when I lost a friend I gain two new ones, Janell and Brandi. We were so close that we still talk to this day. The current fads I really don’t remember. My favorite song was by Destiny’s child. The thing I remember most about this year is when I first got acrylic nails done and when I and my friends created a dance team and we went against each grade, and won.

Year 2005!

Mrs. Cole’s homeroom, fifth grade, and ten years old. Sitting in class with my two best friends, KJ and Stanley. We were on one side of the classroom while everyone else was on the other. I had another best friend too; her name is Charity Denise Patrick.

During this time the most popular song was Chicken head and the current fad the chicken head dance. The most exciting thing that happened to me that year was my little cousin Melody being born, for short Mel- Mel. My favorite movies of 2005 were Fantastic Four, Madagascar, and Beauty Shop.

This year was the best for me because I won fifth grade princess. I won by raising the most money, I raised $500.00. When I won this award I felt as if I was queen of the world.

Year 2006!

Stanley, KJ, and I all sitting around the table laughing at things that had happened in the past. My homeroom teacher this year was cool, his name was Mr. Cole. He was the coolest teacher I had ever known at The Lord’s Christian Academy.

While we were sitting at the table we were all laughing about my favorite movie Madea’s Family Reunion. We also talked about the two latest dances the Heel Toe and Pancake. To me the Pancake was easy, but the Heel Toe was more difficult.

My sixth grade graduation! During my six grade graduation I cried and laughed my last with my friends, because now we were all going our separate ways. At the graduation I received a bald eagle just like the other students who had been at the school since KK. After the graduation we took pictures and went out to eat. This is a day I’ll always remember.

Year 2007!

New school, new surrounds, and new faces! My first year at The Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering I felt as if I was another type of species. I don’t really know why I did; well maybe it was because it was my first time in a public school. When I got there I saw some familiar faces from my church and then I began to feel more comfortable.

I was in the seventh grade, younger than all of the other 7th graders, and on top of all that I was shorter than everyone. When we were dismissed I was in Mr. Burke’s homeroom, he was weird with long hair. Then I meet Tessia, Gladis, Triana, Brianna, Joshua Sims, and Joshua Adams. They were cool people to hang around and still are.

In this year I really didn’t have any favorite movies, and I wasn’t so into the fads of that year I was more focused on my work. The most popular song I wouldn’t know, because I had joined the choir and was singing lead. This was the first time that I had ever sung in front of an audience. MASE was really an amazing place.

Year 2008!

Mr. Sanders, my eight grade homeroom teacher, told us stories about his child about how he shocked himself trying impress girls to how his mom use to give him whoopings. In my eighth grade year my best friends changed yet once again they were, Letrice, Charity, Ashley, and Trenishia. In this year I really can’t remember the fad or the most popular song. Maybe because I didn’t care.

Year 2009!

The toughest homeroom teacher ever, Ms. Curry. She was and is a teacher that drives you to you fullest potential. I was in the ninth grade and my best friends were Jasmine Reed, Charity, Alexis Williams, Dujua Barr, and Chelsea. My favorite movies were Stepfather and G-Force. The current fad was hair styles with blades. The biggest thing I remember about this year is when Yukelia and I got into a small altercation, but it was resolved and we are now close friends.

Year 2010!

Tenth grade year! I am in Ms. Rhodes homeroom and I am 15 years old. My favorite movie is Alice and wonderland. The current fad is skinny leg jeans. The most popular songs are Paper chase and The Flex. My best friends are Eboni Barksdalle, Yukelia Norfleet, Tisha Moss, Tessia Bates, Angelica Bowden, and many more. The thing that I will remember most is Ms. Polk leaving MASE forever.

This is a look back on my life!
